Himalayan pink salt is extracted by hand from the Khewra Salt Mine in the Punjab region of Pakistan. It is one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world and located at the base of the Himalaya Mountains. As the name implies, Himalayan pink salt is pink. Like regular table salt, it is composed primarily of sodium chloride, but it is unrefined and minimally processed. It is also much more abundant in minerals and trace elements, including iron, which is responsible for its rosy hue.
